Nike Air Rift: AKA "The Cloven Hooves"

I bought these back in May 2015 and had wanted them for ages. The main reason that I didn't invest in them before was because of the Cloven nature of the split toe it's almost impossible to purchase socks to wear with them. Nike used to sell them, but that was a few years ago now and even eBay doesn't seem to stock 'em.

The reason that they're called Air Rift is a tribute to the barefoot running techniques of athletes in the Kenyan Rift Valley. The split toe design is supposed to replicate this.

As I walk a great deal these sneakers have really started to stink. I spray them with deodorant and wash them in the machine after two wears, but they're pretty ripe. I decided to remove the insoles as pictured and use them as a template for cutting out some replacement memory foam ones. They were quite comfy to and from my walk to the post office where I sent off an eBay shoe parcel.

Purple Suede Moccasin Slippers

Now, I do like the cosiness of a slipper, but they aren't the easiest thing to come by if you're a big foot such as me. In the past I've purchased faux suede ones from Shoezone, but they soon draw my feet and cause them to stink rather badly. Even though I chuck them in the washing machine on a semi-regular basis. Bah!

I bought these from Amazon, but I cannot recall how much they actually cost. They're great though, true to size and very cosy. As you can see, I do need to stick them through the wash though, preferably in a net bag.

Nike Air RoscheRun

It's 2015 and officially The Year Of The Trainer as far as I'm concerned. This isn't my first purchase of a pair of sneakers in the last say, eight months, but I feel a great need to share them with you.

Lovely aren't they and so, well, blue? I first read about Nike RoscheRun on Mumsnet and they, along with my other footwear faves, Doctor Martens and Birkenstock are very popular in the MumUverse. I suppose it's because they are really practical for running around the place and doing the school run in. Whilst we're on the subjects, I'd love it if more patents actually *walked* their child(ren) to school as the traffic and resulting parking make it really dangerous for padestrians.

Right, enough social commentary: back to the shoes. They have a mesh-like construction and are very light to wear. The only downside is that they aren't as comfortable as standard Nike Airs.

Back Again: Well, For A Limited Time Only

Yes, you've read it right - I'm back, well for now anyway. I'm very likely to have a huge hissy fit in the future and desist, but for now, well.

Here are my feet:

One's taken with a flash and the other, well, isn't. Hey, don't be unfair - it's still a relatively new phone and I'll learn how to use it in my own time thank you.

Thursday: I really should start blogging again....

....oh, but I didn't like to think of my beautiful feet and shoes being shared across the interweb with all and sundry.  The thing about me is that I am very select and am wearing a very old pair of slippers at the moment which are very girly, but unfortunately they are getting very tattered and worn.  Yes, I am a good woman and I have photographed them for your enjoyment as shown below.

Yuck!  These are the bottoms.

The front: is nothing made to last any more?

These pretty, albeit flimsy pieces of girly footwear are fine for sashaying around the bedroom in, but for heavy-duty housework?  I fear not!
