Doc Martens Rometty

I bought these pair of platforms in the sale, the brown leather version was half price at £70. They arrived today and I'm in two minds concerning whether to return them?  They feel comfortable, but boy they're heavy as hell (if indeed the underworld/Hades has been assigned a weight?  Maybe the combined weight of mankind's sinful souls?)

Stomp, stomp stomp - a domestic Romper Stomper if you like?

This is the website listing:

There are no reviews pertaining to either choice of colourway.  Pity.

*Update*

I returned them for a full refund.

Doc Socks

Yes, it's Black Friday, a phenomenon which never really existed here in the UK until a few years ago. Have I purchased anything? No, not really. I mean I ordered some Uniqlo Ezy jeans in their sale, but even the XL was too small, so I sent them back. That said, I chose to re-order a pair of their excellent ultra stretch skinnies in black because I haven't a pair that actually fit me at the moment. It's free delivery and returns at the moment, so happy days.

Ah, Doc Socks. I bought these from Amazon I think, as I baulked at paying p&p on the official DMs site. They have internal padding located at the foot's pressure points, thereby cushioning one's plates of meat against the harsh and unyielding leather of the boots.

She's got legs ...

... and she knows how to use them." Sang the hairy Texan rockers ZZ Top back in the 80s. I know how to use mine too and I'm choosing to cover them with leggings.

These are textured faux leather leggings which I bought from Matalan. They make a bit of a rasping sound when I rub my limbs together in the manner of a giant grasshopper.

The pair pictured above are biker style leggings and are also a Matalan product. They're really tactile and as such I keep rubbing my own legs like some kind of self-stimulating madwoman.

Doc Martens Cadence

Over the years I've built up a fair number of pairs of Doc Martens. I like to walk and find that they fit my lifestyle perfectly, plus I like a bit of a block heel, despite being nearly 6ft in them!

I bought these Cadences a few years ago, both in the tan and black colourways. I've also got duplicate pairs sitting in the loft which I bought half price in the DMs online sale. The heel height is roughly 2in, which is ideal. I must confess that I'm not a huge fan of the black pair as due to the specific leather they've used, Greenland, it's always seemed a bit scruffy. They look ok with black or grey skinny jeans/leggings/jeggings etc though.

The grips are pretty good too, as you can see.

Doc Martens Brienna Ladies Wedge

I can never get enough boots and shoes, especially Doc Martens. I have umpteen pairs and still crave more. I bought this pair from eBay as the style has been discontinued on the website and I'd had my eye on them for ages. They're a wedge, which I love for their height and comfort.

They are very bouncy!  I'm like Zebedee.

Half A Pint Of Sweat ...

... is apparently excreted by human feet on a daily basis. How do I know this? Well, I've got the QVC Style Channel burbling around in the background, a bit like tropical fish, but without the hassle. It's the Clarks Shoes show, but it's rare to see them flogging size 9s on there.

Nike Air Blazers

You know me, I'm a sucker for trainers and I find that ASOS is a great place to buy them. This week ASOS ended their A List reward scheme and presented their customers with a £10 voucher to say thank you. So ... I bought these:

They are Nike Air Blazers Low Premium in Old Gold. I think that you'll agree that they're so cool.

Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine

The other day I performed a manipedi on myself; I prefer attending to my own beauty regieme, well apart from cutting my own locks and going to the eyebrow threading place sporadically.  Regular readers will know that silver is one of my most favourite colours and I have the nail polish to prove it, namely:

For those without a magnifying glass, it's Rimmel 60 Seconds Super Shine in shade #808 - Your Majesty. I often wonder if HM The Queen ever gathers all of her female relations around for a pamper session in Windsor Castle one Saturday night? I for one think that it would be nice if Kate, Meghan, Sophie and Camilla joined her for a few glasses of Gin and Dubonnets (although not Megs, obvs - she'd have a warm Ribena instead). I reckon that they'd all gossip about Fergie and try to persuade Her Maj to relax the rules about wearing open toed shoes during official functions (didn't Meghan look silly wearing ballet pumps on Bondai Beach recently?) Also, Lizzie, why aren't wedges acceptable either?

Bowser Socks

Now if you're a fan of retro gaming like me then you'll appreciate these Primark socks. These particular pair feature Mario's nemesis, the archvillain Bowser, who is some kind of spiny turtle. The other designs on the five pack are: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and another character whose name eludes me ...

They're a tad synthetic and slippery on laminate, but hey ho. Here's hoping that they don't get too clammy today.

Nike Trainers

Oooh I love a Nike trainer, the way they look and the slight wedge, plus it feels like I'm walking on memory foam. Me and The Duke took a nice long walk today and the sneakers were really comfortable.

My step count was pretty impressive too (for me, anyway.)

Doc Martens Harrie Patent

Regular readers will have surmised by now that I'm a bit of a shiny shoe magpie. Well, these are my pair of Doc Martens Harrie 8 hole boots anyway. I rarely wear them, but they do look nice, nonewithstanding their slightly stiff construction.

That reminds me, it's manipedi time this afternoon. Toodleloo!

Adidas Superstar Metallic

One of my favourite colours is silver; I only recently realised that Argentina was named after the French word for silver - argent. Actually, their general term for money is l'argent and 'keep the change' is guardez la money.

Right ... trainers. I do love 'em and I bought these last year from eBay.

I used to buy Adidas Superstars years ago from Argos because they sold a woman's size 9 and therefore I could buy more pastelly sneakers. The soles are much bouncier than I recall and I do believe that Sir Robbie Williams name checked them in his much derided 2006 hit 'Rudebox' in the line 'grab your shell toes and your fat laces, ... rock the three stripes, not the Asics.'

Williams failed to inform his audience that the tongues of Superstar sneakers are very stiff and therefore a pair of full length socks is preferable to the briefer trainer sock. Maybe this is one of the main reasons why the Rudebox album was such a flop and ended up being used as the base for a motorway?

Vibrating Feet

To combat my increasingly middle-aged wibble wobble I bought this home exercise vibration plate from Amazon.

Here it is, in action, from the calf downwards. I fear that the sight of my undulating fat cells may break the Internet.

Adidas Superstar Slip Ons

I bought these in the ASOS sale last year and have only worn them twice. They're very comfortable, but due to their fabric/elastic construction, they're not suitable for wearing during the winter months.

I think that you'll agree that they're pretty darn funky.

Doc Martens Flora Boots

Last year I bought these beauties. Since then I have only worn them on about five occasions. They're a pair of Doc Martens Flora Chelsea boots, which is a style that I think is still available (sub: please check*). The sole, although the patented DMs Airwair type, is much thinner than in the standard 8 hole Pascal boots.

Here they are after being dusted off a bit.

Please note that I'm au chausette naturel, but that's only for the purposes of taking the pictures. I never venture out in boots sans socks, it's not a thing I'd endorse whatsoever. In fact, I do own some spevial Doc Socks which have some internal padding located at key pinch points.

A little bit about the leather type on these boots; as you can see grom thr box, they're Kensington arcadia rouge, which is a leather treatment/colourway that rubs off during use and therefore gives a marbled effect. I haven't worn these enough as yet, but only time will tell.

Scaly Heels

Last night I filled a large white plastic washing up bowl with warm water (not the same one we use in the kitchen for soaking the dishes, believe me!) and soaked my feet in a solution of Radox bath salts for twenty-three minutes or so whilst watching the inanity of QVC on Virgin Media channel 742. I do love how excited the presenters and the 'stylist' (errr ... who gets to be one of those?) get about clothes as mundane as pull on leisure trousers or a floaty sleeved polyester-rich blouse?

I then sloughed off all of the hard skin from my heels with my Soap and Glory foot file. I had to use the portable Dyson to suck up the remains ... yum!  Anyway, a day on my feet feel deliciously soft and there's no rasping feeling against the sheets at night.

Fluffy Birkies

Last year I was browsing through Amazon and what did I see? A pair of clunky, cloud-like apparitions which turned out to be Birkenstock Arizonas with a full faux sheepskin lining. Yep, they're quite fugly, but boy, they're so comfy and cosy.

Mmm - I'm writhing around in the sheer tactile loveliness. Yum!

Here's the side view ...

Autumn Feet

Hello, it's me again and here's a picture of my feet. I injured the left one last week whilst climbing up as part of cleaning the Venetian blinds. One of the tendons is hurting.

Anyhoo, winter footwear - it'll cause blisters, that's for sure.

Doc Martens Hurt My Feet

Hello again! I have decided to reinvigorate this blog.

Well, as I previously stated, they blooming do. Earlier on today I went for a nice long walk in my Doc Martens 1b99s, which I had definitely worn in last year, but no, they still ripped my poor heels to shreds. Even when worn with special double layer hiking socks:

The other two Docs pictured with my black leather 14 hole 1b99s are Flora Arcadias and Vegan 14 holes. All of my boots are conspiring against me, sob!!!
